PAFF was constructed to import, store and transfer aviation fuel to the Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok via a submerged sea pipeline.
The project consisted of an offshore 530m long twin fuel berth, a 264,000m3 aviation fuel storage capacity tank farm and a 4.7km subsea pipeline to deliver the fuel to an existing delivery line.
The offloading facility is situated 200m from shore in the Urmston Road Channel and is comprised of two island berths, 272m apart. The southern berth consists of a loading platform, four berthing dolphins and four mooring dolphins and can receive vessels ranging from 10,000 DWT to 80,000 DWT. The northern berth consists of a loading platform, two berthing dolphins and four mooring dolphins (one of which is shared with the southern berth) and can receive vessels ranging from 10,000 DWT to 40,000 DWT.
